Welcome

Welcome to my private and independent Clinical, Forensic, and Consulting Psychology practice. I have personally written all the following information.

Making myself transparent and available to you is one of my foremost goals.  You know that performance drives trust, and my practice is designed around being value-based, results driven, and cost effective.  Beyond effectiveness, clients I work with are looking for a personalized set of services, an experience sadly yet often absent in today's professional world.

I have obtained the highest level of training in my field order to serve you with a unique standard of professional service in a  comfortable, private environment. A full spectrum of effective assessment, intervention, and consultation services are available. I apply my solid grounding in scientific psychology as a generalist who works with a full variety of situations.  I also have specialized training and expertise in the following areas:  solution-focused Performance Enhancing Assessment (PEA), Forensic Psychology, Child/Adolescent Psychology, and Parent/Professional Consultation.

In my practice, special emphasis is placed on using evidence-based methods that have scientific backing.  I am known as a professional who is very thorough.

My office is located next to St. Joseph’s Hospital where I  served as a program developer and consultant to the Rehabilitation Psychology and Bariatric Surgery Teams.  I believe in giving back to the community, and do so through my internship program for aspiring undergraduate psychologists, as well as through pro bono work with community organizations in need of volunteers.  For example, I recently served as a parent group coordinator for parents of children/adolescents with attention problems.

Unique Approach

I offer a full spectrum of quality clinical and forensic services, and focus on tailoring my delivery of those services to the frequency and intensity of the approach to fit your personality, situation, and needs.

Together we will design the mixture of assessment, intervention, and consultation services that will most efficiently address your situation. From there we may make a plan of how we will measure our progress toward the outcome. Clinical psychologists have special expertise with how to appreciate  complex situations with multiple variables.

When working as a clinical psychologist, I never define people by their problems, rather, I see their problems from within their unique mixture of Character strengths.  In fact, I recently founded the Center for Character Strength Investment (CSI), to begin developing a model for how we cultivate moral resilience, virtuous character, and leadership effectiveness in youth.  Go to joincsi.com for more information.

I am fully committed to treating people with dignity, and with respect for their individuality. The relationship between a person’s Value/Belief system and their life is an important factor I make sure to account for fully. I have had special training in this area, as well as in the area of Psychology and Religion/Spirituality.

This is an example of how my approach is uniquely integrative. While there are sometimes over 50 kinds of treatments available for any one problem, the question is which combination of methods has the highest Integrative Quality (IQ). This is where my rigorous training in evidence-based treatments can help you the most.

Evidence-Based Focus

I select treatments that you are comfortable with, which match your Values and outlook, and which also have the most scientific data supporting them. Increasingly healthcare is moving toward using evidence-based resources.

My focus is to choose the most effective and efficient treatment that is comfortable for you. This choice demands review of competing scientific opinion, and also the thoughtful application of that treatment in a way that is tailored to your personality. To understand how you are best served by someone with strong scientific training, go to the section on “How do Psychologists function”. You want someone who knows which research to look at, and how to evaluate the scientific value of competing opinions.
